Corruption has appeared on land and sea because of what people’s hands have earned, so that He may cause them to taste the consequence of some of their deeds, so that they may return. [Surah Ar-Rum 30:41]
My dear readers and listeners! Nowadays, whenever we wake up and read the news, we find many headlines about women being sexually assaulted. The rapes and crimes against women that are headlined by news outlets on newspapers, news channels, and social media have only resulted in the doubling of the rate of women being abused! This is because publicizing and popularizing evil only results in more evil occurring and being spread. Because sexual crimes are being spread like wildfire on the news, criminals have become more bold, careless, and reckless due to the lack of consequences and repercussions.
If we were to look at our country Pakistan, or many other countries, and even dare point towards these sexual crimes against women, our topic will become extremely long. This is because the sexual crimes against women in Pakistan and many other countries are so numerous that a long list of incidents will take ages to collect, only to inform us that these incidents and crimes are not ceasing to exist or decreasing. According to one report, our neighboring country India has an average of one woman getting raped every eight minutes, meaning that 170 rapes occur daily on average! And how many are the cases that aren’t reported? If they were reported, the average would reach an astronomical count. However, this isn’t specific to India; no country on earth can claim to have freed their women from this issue. Women abuse occurs in pretty much every country.
Hence, I thought that in today’s Friday sermon, we should pay attention to the reasons why these crimes occur and spread, and then move on to searching for the solutions to these problems, so that we can save ourselves and our womenfolk from these heinous crimes.

**Reasons Why Women Are Raped**
1. **Dysfunctional Family System**
When the innate needs of human beings aren’t fulfilled through lawful means, they will try to fulfill these innate needs using unlawful and unnatural means. One of these innate needs is sexual satisfaction. The correct legislated means for a human being to fulfill his innate sexual needs is to get married and be intimate with his spouse. But in our times, many childish and inexcusable causes have made the act of getting married extremely difficult. The outcome of this is that an easy alternative outlet of fornication has been provided so that people can satisfy the sexual needs of their private parts. Fornication and unlawfully fulfilling one’s sexual needs – before or after marriage – have resulted in many problematic issues, such as separation, disownment, divorce, going no-contact, etc., and these cases are on the rise day by day. This is why the family system has been broken and torn to pieces, and the resulting dysfunctional and spoiled family system becomes a reason why men start raping and fornicating. Since dysfunctional family systems are increasing, the cases of rape and fornication will also increase.
2. **Drinking Alcohol**
In our country, Pakistan, and many other nations, the consumption of alcohol has spread like an epidemic. As a result, people have become intoxicated, and their mental faculties have been dulled. When a man’s senses are no longer functioning correctly, he cannot differentiate between right and wrong, lawful and unlawful. This leads to the loss of modesty, dignity, and self-respect, which in turn becomes a cause of rape and other sexual crimes.
3. **Flooding Nakedness Through Mass Media**
The media, which is supposed to serve as a tool for education and enlightenment, has become a platform for spreading nakedness and obscenity. The flood of indecent images, videos, and content on television, internet, and social media has corrupted the minds of many people, especially the youth. This constant exposure to immorality encourages them to commit indecent acts, leading to an increase in cases of rape.
4. **Pornography**
The widespread availability and consumption of pornography have played a significant role in the moral decline of society. Pornography not only corrupts the mind but also fuels the desire to commit sexual crimes. It desensitizes individuals to the severity of such acts and makes them more likely to engage in sexual violence.
5. **Co-Education and 'Platonic' Relationships**
The concept of co-education and the normalization of 'platonic' relationships between men and women have blurred the lines of modesty and chastity. When men and women freely interact with each other in an un-Islamic manner, it opens the door to many evils, including rape. This free mixing is contrary to the teachings of Islam and leads to the erosion of moral values.
6. **Semi-Nude Clothing and Being Uncovered**
The trend of wearing semi-nude clothing and exposing parts of the body that should be covered has become prevalent in society. This lack of modesty provokes the desires of men and leads to cases of rape. Islam emphasizes the importance of modesty and covering the body, and neglecting these teachings results in the spread of immorality.
7. **Women Traveling Alone**
When women travel alone without a male guardian, they are more vulnerable to being attacked or harassed. This is why Islam encourages women to travel with a male guardian for their safety and protection.
8. **Women Going to Their Job and Returning Home Late**
Women who go to work and return home late at night are at a higher risk of being targeted by criminals. Islam emphasizes the importance of women remaining in their homes and only leaving when necessary, with the appropriate precautions.

The call for 'freedom for women' has been misunderstood and misused in many societies. Instead of promoting true freedom, which is the freedom to live a life of dignity and modesty, this chant has led to the exploitation of women. It has encouraged women to abandon the teachings of Islam, resulting in an increase in cases of rape and other crimes.

The misuse of mobile phones, the internet, and social media platforms has contributed to the rise of sexual crimes. اگر ہم اپنے ملک پاکستان، یا دیگر ممالک پر نظر ڈالیں، اور ان جنسی جرائم کی طرف اشارہ کریں تو ہمارا موضوع بہت طویل ہو جائے گا۔ یہ اس لیے ہے کہ پاکستان اور دیگر ممالک میں خواتین کے ساتھ ہونے والے جنسی جرائم کی تعداد اتنی زیادہ ہے کہ ان واقعات کی طویل فہرست مرتب کرنے میں بہت وقت لگے گا، اور یہ واقعات اور جرائم نہ رکنے والے ہیں اور نہ ہی کم ہو رہے ہیں۔ ایک رپورٹ کے مطابق ہمارے پڑوسی ملک بھارت میں ہر آٹھ منٹ میں ایک خاتون کا ریپ ہوتا ہے، یعنی روزانہ اوسطاً 170 ریپ کے واقعات پیش آتے ہیں! اور کتنے واقعات ایسے ہیں جو رپورٹ نہیں ہوتے؟ اگر انہیں رپورٹ کیا جائے تو اوسط تعداد بہت زیادہ ہو جائے گی۔ تاہم، یہ مسئلہ صرف بھارت تک محدود نہیں؛ دنیا میں کوئی بھی ملک یہ دعویٰ نہیں کر سکتا کہ اس نے اپنی خواتین کو اس مسئلہ سے آزاد کر دیا ہے۔ خواتین کے ساتھ زیادتی تقریباً ہر ملک میں ہوتی ہے۔
لہٰذا، میں نے سوچا کہ آج کے جمعہ کے خطبہ میں، ہمیں ان جرائم کے وقوع پذیر ہونے اور پھیلنے کی وجوہات پر توجہ دینی چاہئے، اور پھر ان مسائل کے حل کی تلاش میں لگ جانا چاہئے، تاکہ ہم خود کو اور اپنی خواتین کو ان خوفناک جرائم سے بچا سکیں۔

**خواتین کے ساتھ زیادتی ہونے کی وجوہات**
1. **خاندانی نظام کی خرابی**
جب انسان کی فطری ضروریات کو جائز طریقے سے پورا نہیں کیا جاتا، تو وہ غیر قانونی اور غیر فطری طریقے سے ان ضروریات کو پورا کرنے کی کوشش کرتا ہے۔ ان فطری ضروریات میں سے ایک جنسی تسکین ہے۔ انسان کی فطری جنسی ضروریات کو پورا کرنے کا صحیح اور جائز طریقہ یہ ہے کہ وہ شادی کرے اور اپنے شریک حیات کے ساتھ جنسی تعلق قائم کرے۔ لیکن ہمارے زمانے میں، بہت سی غیر ضروری اور غیر معقول وجوہات کی بنا پر شادی کو بہت مشکل بنا دیا گیا ہے۔ اس کا نتیجہ یہ ہوا ہے کہ لوگوں کو اپنے جنسی خواہشات کو غیر قانونی طریقے سے پورا کرنے کا آسان متبادل فراہم کیا گیا ہے۔ شادی سے پہلے یا بعد میں غیر قانونی طور پر اپنی جنسی ضروریات کو پورا کرنا، بہت سے مسائل کا سبب بنتا ہے جیسے علیحدگی، طلاق، خاندان سے قطع تعلق وغیرہ، اور یہ مسائل روز بروز بڑھتے جا رہے ہیں۔ یہی وجہ ہے کہ خاندانی نظام ٹوٹ پھوٹ کا شکار ہو چکا ہے، اور اس کے نتیجے میں پیدا ہونے والا بگڑا ہوا خاندانی نظام مردوں کو جنسی زیادتی کرنے اور زنا کرنے پر مجبور کرتا ہے۔ چونکہ خاندانی نظام کی خرابی بڑھ رہی ہے، اس لیے زیادتی اور زنا کے واقعات بھی بڑھیں گے۔
2. **شراب نوشی**
ہمارے ملک پاکستان اور دیگر ممالک میں شراب نوشی وبا کی طرح پھیل چکی ہے۔ اس کے نتیجے میں لوگ نشے میں دھت ہو گئے ہیں، اور ان کی ذہنی صلاحیتیں مفلوج ہو گئی ہیں۔ جب کسی انسان کے حواس ٹھیک سے کام نہیں کرتے تو وہ حق اور باطل، جائز اور ناجائز میں فرق نہیں کر پاتا۔ اس سے حیا، عزت اور خودداری کا خاتمہ ہوتا ہے، جس کے نتیجے میں زیادتی اور دیگر جنسی جرائم کا ارتکاب ہوتا ہے۔
3. **میڈیا کے ذریعے بے حیائی کا سیلاب**
میڈیا، جو کہ تعلیم و تربیت کا ذریعہ ہونا چاہئے، بے حیائی اور فحاشی پھیلانے کا ذریعہ بن چکا ہے۔ ٹیلی ویژن، انٹرنیٹ، اور سوشل میڈیا پر فحش تصاویر، ویڈیوز، اور مواد کی بھرمار نے لوگوں، خاص طور پر نوجوانوں کے اذہان کو بگاڑ دیا ہے۔ اس مسلسل بے حیائی کے سامنے آنے سے لوگ بے حیائی کے کام کرنے کی ترغیب پاتے ہیں، جس سے زیادتی کے واقعات میں اضافہ ہوتا ہے۔
